Terms of Service
Last updated: October 6, 2026
These terms are written to match how Layag actually works today. They are not legal advice — have them reviewed by counsel, and fill in the bracketed governing-law and entity details, before relying on them at scale.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Layag mobile app (Android and iOS) and the layagapp.com website (together, the "Service"), provided by Layag ("Layag," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating a Layag account, joining the waitlist, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. We may update these Terms from time to time; continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EEA/UK, where that higher threshold applies) and capable of forming a binding contract to use the Service. By using Layag, you represent that you meet these requirements.
3. Account Registration
You must provide accurate information when creating an account (via email, Google Sign-In, or Sign in with Apple) and keep it up to date. You're responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at hello@layagapp.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
4. User Responsibilities
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You're responsible for the itineraries, guides, photos, messages, and other content you create or upload, and for making your own final travel decisions — see "AI-Generated Content, Travel & Booking Disclaimer" below.
5. Acceptable Use
- No impersonating another person or misrepresenting your affiliation with anyone.
- No uploading unlawful, infringing, defamatory, or sexually explicit content, or content that harasses or endangers others.
- No attempting to access another user's account, or Layag's systems, without authorization.
- No scraping, reverse-engineering, or interfering with the Service's normal operation.
- No publishing guides or content you don't have the rights to publish.
- No using the Service to spam, defraud, or mislead other users, including in the Creator Marketplace.
6. Subscriptions and Payments
Layag Pro. Layag offers a free plan and an optional paid subscription, Layag Pro, billed monthly or yearly through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The price is shown in your store's currency before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period, and you can manage or cancel them in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
Guide purchases. Paid travel guides in the Creator Marketplace are one-time in-app purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Each guide is sold at one of Layag's fixed price levels, and you pay your store's local price for that level. Once you buy a guide, it's saved to My Guides in your Layag account and you can open it whenever you like, on any device you sign in to — including after the creator stops selling it or your Layag Pro subscription ends. A Layag Pro subscription is needed to buy new guides, but never to open guides you've already bought. You lose access only if the purchase is refunded or reversed, you delete your account, or Layag stops operating the Service. Creators may update a guide's content over time. A purchase gives you a personal license to use the guide; it doesn't transfer ownership of it.
7. Cancellation and Refunds
You may delete your account at any time (see "Account Deletion" in the Privacy Policy). Subscriptions and guide purchases are billed by Apple or Google, so refunds are handled under the Apple App Store's and Google Play's own refund policies. Request a refund from the store you paid through. If a purchase is refunded or reversed, access to that guide (or to Layag Pro) may be removed.
8. App Content and Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, branding, and underlying software, is owned by Layag or its licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for its intended personal purpose. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service except as this license expressly allows.
9. User-Generated Content
You retain ownership of the itineraries, guides, photos, and other content you create ("Your Content"). By submitting Your Content, you grant Layag a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and distribute it as needed to operate and promote the Service (e.g. showing a published guide to potential buyers, or a shared trip to invited collaborators). Creators retain ownership of their published guides; Layag doesn't claim ownership of your travel content. We may remove content that violates these Terms.
10. AI-Generated Content, Travel & Booking Disclaimer
Layag's itineraries, flight and stay options, discovery suggestions, and some guide content are generated or assisted by AI (Google Gemini) and third-party data sources. This content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated. It is provided for planning inspiration only and is not professional travel, legal, or immigration advice.
Visa & entry requirements shown in the app are drawn from a periodically updated open dataset, not a live government feed. Always verify visa, passport, and entry requirements directly with the relevant embassy, consulate, or official government source before you travel.
Flight and stay results are estimates from third-party data sources — not live, guaranteed, or bookable inventory. Prices, availability, and schedules shown in Layag may not match what you find when you actually book. Layag does not process flight or stay bookings; where the app hands you off to an external site (e.g. a constructed Google Flights/Hotels search or a listing's own booking link) to complete a booking, that booking is made directly with the airline, property, or travel provider, and Layag is not a party to that transaction, contract, or payment.
11. Marketplace and Creator Terms
Travel guides published through Creator Studio are informational travel content, not bookable reservations or guaranteed services. Creators are responsible for the accuracy and legality of the guides they publish. Collaborator invitations (for trips or guides) grant the invited user the specific role assigned (e.g. viewer, contributor, co-editor, lead planner) and can be revoked by the trip or guide owner at any time. Once a guide has been sold, its creator can no longer delete it, so buyers keep access to what they paid for.
Creator earnings. For each guide sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play, the store keeps its commission (currently 15% under their small-business programs). Layag then keeps a 5% platform fee on the amount that remains, and the rest is credited to the creator's Layag balance. Earnings are calculated from the US price of the guide's price level and recorded in US dollars. Purchases made with store test accounts don't generate earnings, and Layag may deduct earnings for purchases that are refunded or reversed.
Payouts. To be paid, a creator adds payout details in the app. Creators in Pakistan can be paid by bank transfer to a Pakistani bank account (IBAN) or to a JazzCash or Easypaisa wallet, in Pakistani rupees at the exchange rate on the day the payout is sent. Payouts to creators outside Pakistan aren't available yet: their earnings are kept in their Layag balance and will be paid once international payouts (planned through Payoneer, in US dollars) launch. Layag sends payouts between the 1st and 10th of each month, covering earnings up to the end of the previous month, once the creator's balance is at least US$25. Smaller balances roll over to the following month. Creators are responsible for entering correct payout details; payouts sent to incorrect details can't always be recovered. Creators are responsible for any taxes on their earnings. Layag may hold a payout while it investigates suspected fraud or a violation of these Terms.
12. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates third-party services — including Google Firebase, Google Gemini/Vertex AI, Google Sign-In, Sign in with Apple, Google Maps/Places, Unsplash, and RapidAPI-hosted flight/stay data providers. Your use of functionality backed by these providers is also subject to their own terms and policies. We aren't responsible for third-party services' availability, accuracy, or content.
13. App Availability and Changes
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service, temporarily or permanently, with or without notice. We're not liable to you or any third party for any such change, suspension, or discontinuation.
14. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent or abusive behavior, or for any other reason at our discretion, with notice where reasonably possible. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (e.g. intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability) will continue to apply.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Layag and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service — including reliance on AI-generated itineraries, visa guidance, or flight/stay estimates. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve months before the claim arose.
16. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the Service, or any AI-generated or third-party-sourced content within it, will be accurate, uninterrupted, or error-free.
17. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [Insert governing law/jurisdiction], without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
